Example from Northern Carts. Equipment and availability vary.

Look beyond the word lithium

A lithium-equipped cart is a complete system, not just a battery label. Ask which battery is installed, its capacity, which charger comes with it and whether the motor and controller are original or have been changed. Those details help you compare one build with another.

Match the build to your day

Start with the number of riders, your typical route and a place to charge. Then compare seating, wheels, tires, lift kits, lights and other installed equipment. A cart’s range depends on its battery and configuration as well as terrain, load and use; we do not assign one mileage estimate to every lithium build.

An existing build or an upgrade project

You can browse carts already listed with lithium equipment, or ask our service team about your current cart. For an upgrade, share the model, year and existing electrical setup so the team can evaluate compatibility. Confirm the work included, charger requirements, warranty and final price in the quote.

Separate the cart’s age from the battery’s history

The model year identifies the cart, but it does not tell you when a replacement battery was installed. When comparing a reconditioned lithium build, look at the cart’s condition and ask separately about the battery, charger and conversion work. The battery and other installed components may have different warranty terms. Keeping those details together makes two quotes easier to compare.

What to compare on a lithium build

Details to compare before choosing your cart
CompareWhat to look for
Battery identificationRecord the battery brand, model and listed capacity. “Lithium upgrade” alone does not tell you which battery system is installed.
Charger and charging locationConfirm the included charger, its requirements and where you plan to use it. Follow the instructions for that specific system, including storage and temperature guidance.
Complete electrical setupIdentify any controller, motor or accessory changes in addition to the battery. Confirm the equipment as a complete, compatible installation.
Build versus base cartCompare the battery work separately from seats, paint, lift kit and wheels. This makes it easier to understand what each cart’s price includes.

Before you choose

A few common questions

Are all electric carts lithium?

No. Electric describes the power type, not the battery chemistry. These shopping results include electric carts whose listing explicitly identifies lithium equipment.

Is the lithium battery factory-installed?

It depends on the cart. A listing may identify a lithium battery upgrade. Ask us to confirm the battery’s make, installation details and warranty for the stock number you are considering.

Can I reuse my current charger?

Do not assume an existing charger is compatible. Confirm the correct charger and charging instructions for the specific battery system with our team.
