Identify the electric Drive2 before choosing a kit

Start by sharing your electric cart’s model year, serial number and existing configuration with our team. This helps identify the appropriate conversion options. Explain how you use the cart and any accessories you want included so the plan fits the complete build.

This is an electric-cart battery conversion guide. Replacing a gas drivetrain with an electric system is a separate project. Likewise, a factory Yamaha lithium cart and an aftermarket-converted Drive2 are different configurations with different documentation and coverage.

Yamaha: model identification and battery compatibility guidance

Plan the battery and supporting equipment together

A conversion brings together the battery, compatible charger, mounting and any supporting components needed for the cart. Northern Carts can discuss the equipment and installation scope for your electric Drive2.

Tell us about existing accessories and any controller or motor changes. Those details help the team plan a compatible installation. Battery capacity is one part of the choice; the complete system should fit the way you intend to use the cart.

  • Battery and compatible charging equipment.
  • Mounting and supporting parts for the particular cart.
  • Integration of included accessories.
  • Operating instructions and the completed installation scope.

Set realistic performance expectations

Tell the team your normal passengers, route, terrain and accessories. These details help establish what the installation needs to support. Larger tires, added seats or a stretched chassis can make a cart’s use very different from its original factory configuration.

A lithium conversion does not automatically increase permitted passenger capacity or make a cart suitable for public roads. It also does not establish a guaranteed speed or range. Ask for expectations tied to the proposed components and actual cart, including the assumptions behind any distance estimate.

Get ready for everyday ownership

Request instructions for everyday charging and seasonal storage for the installed battery. Product-specific temperature and monitoring guidance matters when a cart is stored through winter. Trojan’s lithium winterization information is one manufacturer example, not a substitute for another brand’s manual.

Our team can explain the included components, charging routine and available support for the completed build. Keep the owner instructions and coverage information with your cart records so they are easy to find when you need them.

Questions before you buy

Can I keep the old charger?

Only if the installer and battery documentation confirm compatibility. Do not assume a charger intended for the old battery chemistry is suitable for the replacement.

Is every electric Drive2 a lithium cart?

No. Check the installed battery system and the listing’s options. Electric describes propulsion, not battery chemistry.

Can Northern Carts quote a build?

Contact the team with the serial number, current configuration and intended use. Compatibility, scope, price and timing need to be confirmed for your cart.
